CCSK observes

IMPHAL, Oct 18 : The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) organised the 6th remembrance of the first elected Government in the erstwhile independent kingdom of Manipur on October 18, 1948 at JNM Dance Academy.
Speaking at the occasion, Jeetendra Ningomba, president CCSK said on October 18, 1948, Manipur had its first elected Government based on universal adult franchise. It was on this day that the elected representatives assembled at the Durbar hall and started looking after the affairs of the State, he added.
CCSK is organising the remembrance programme to educate the public who have been given false lessons of history or have been given no proper lessons at all and bring together all the people towards the dream of a united Manipur, he added.
He also reiterated the need to reconcile and work together for a better tomorrow especially with a general election around the corner.
The programme was also attended by Prof Amar Yumnam, former VC of Manipur University; Nongthombam Rajendra, president ICHAM and Dr Dhanabir Laishram as presidium members.
