Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in collaboration with Tour de Manipur Riders observed United Nations Day by  organising a cycle rally today on the theme “Awareness Ride on Sustainable Development Goals by outreaching to the unreached”.
A press release issued by Manipur State Legal Services Authority today stated that the awareness cycle ride was led by Ojesh Mutum, member secretary, MASLSA with members of Tour de Manipur Riders and reached out to around 20 remote villages of Imphal East, Imphal West, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts. The team interacted with a total of around 500 villagers and provided awareness on free legal aid and services.
Further, MASLSA also organised a webinar on the theme “UN Day &  the significance of Legal Services” through Jitsi Meet platform from 1 pm to 2 pm for law students, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and Front Office Functionaries of Manipur SLSA.
During the webinar, Ojesh Mutum stressed on the significance of UN Day and its relevance with the activities and functions of  Legal Services Institutions in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.
He further highlighted the various legal services activities undertaken by MASLSA reaching out to remote villages in the state as a part of the ongoing NALSAs PAN India Awareness cum Outreach Programme (October 2 to November 14, 2021). He further added that Manipur State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority is committed to provide free and competent legal aid services especially to the weaker sections of the society so that access to justice is accessible to all.
Resource persons  Chonchuirinmayo Luithui, Centre Administrator, OSC, Ukhrul and Ch Momon Singh, Advocate & Member, Manipur SLSA spoke on the theme “Building Back Together for Peace & Prosperity: UN Day & its significance” and “UN Day and the significance of Legal Services” respectively.
A short legal awareness video on Lok Adalat was screened followed by an interactive session with the participants.
