TAMENGLONG, Oct 24
The Joint Tribe Council has vehemently condemned the irresponsible remarks made by Samuel Jendai, former MLA of 53-Tamenglong (ST) AC on October 20 at a function held at his Kumji-5 residence.
In a release, JTC stated that in a video of the former MLA which went viral in the social media, he categorically accused the public of extending 'mateng' (help) to the perpetrators of Athuan Abonmai murder.
His linking of the heinous crime with the public is a clear indication of his intent to incite violence and hatred among the public, it alleged.
The JTC further urged Samuel Jendai to take back his statement and tender public apology within 12 noon of October 27, failing which the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people of Manipur would be compelled to boycott him in their areas.
