NIT to launch ‘telemedicine’ project in Kamjong

IMPHAL, Oct 25: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Langol will soon initiate a ‘telemedicine’ project in Kamjong district.
The Director of the institute Goutam Sutradhar informed this to the media during a press briefing held today at Langol and informed that Kamjong district is one of the three districts in the Country selected for the project.
He added that around 20,000 people in and around the district will be benefited under the programme.
The Director added that the programme emphasizes on creating awareness and giving the benefits of modern technology application in healthcare in the remote areas.
Highlighting that the endeavour made by NIT, Langol for the upliftment of the society, Goutam Sutradhar maintained that a programme focussing on spice and fisheries has also been initiated by the institution in the State.
He also conveyed that a project for identification of water resources to be utilized in the Imphal-Jiribam Railway project will be taken up by the institute.
Asserting that NIT, Langol ranked 114th among all the the participating engineering institutions in the country this year, the Director exuded confidence that the institution can achieve higher rank.
While stressing on the training and placement, he said that many of the students who passed out from the institute have been placed in several multinational companies, including Larsen & Toubro, Infosys, Wipro and Philips.
The Director also informed that the institution has been imparting a special course for those who want to take up enterprising/entrepreneurship works.
