IMPHAL, Oct 25 : Manipur Wushu team cruised to overall team champions trophy at the Junior National Wushu Championship held at Jalandhar, Punjab  till today since October 20.
State athletes amassed 72 medals including 25 gold, 19 silver and 15 bronze medals in Taolu events and 4 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals in Sanda events to secure the overall team champions' trophy.
As per a press release of the Wushu Association of Manipur, Chingangbam Dinesh earned 3 silver medals in the Nanquan, Nandao and Nangun events of Taolu Group A category as Kangjam Monish secured two silver medals, one each in the Taijiquan and Taijijian events.
Yumlembam Echantombi in the meantime secured 3 gold medals, one each in the Changquan, Daoshu and Gunshu events in the same category and her compatriot Ningthoujam Christina bagged a silver and a gold medal respectively in the Nanquan and Nandao events.
Oinam Malemnganbi also added two gold medals to the State's tally winning one gold each in the Taijiquan and Taijijian events and Yengkhom Geeta earned a bronze medal in the Taijijian event.
Taolu Group B
In the Taolu Group B category events, Ngangom Kajal clinched three medals (one each in Changquan, Daoshu and Gunshu) and Langam Taniya bagged a bronze and two silver medals (respectively in Changquan, Jianshu and Qiangshu events).
Jona Princie Konsam earned a silver and a gold medal for the State respectively in the Taijiquan and Taijijian events as Olica Naorem bagged two bronze medals (Taijiquan and Taijijian events) and Hanjabam Langlentombi struck three gold medals, one each in the Nanquan, Nandao and Nangun events.
Other players who fetched medals for the State in the same category, as per the release, are : Achom Tapas (Silver in changquan, bronze in Daoshu and bronze in Gunshu events), Leimapokpam Nelson (bronze in Changquan, 2 gold medals in Jianshu and Qiangshu events), Thounganba Aheibam (2 gold medals in changquan and Daoshu and a silver in Gunshu), Gurumayum Devesh (3 silver medals in Nanquan, Nandao and Nangun events), Wahengbam Bhumeswor (a gold medal each in Taijiquan and Taijijian events), wildcard Okram Iyathoi (a gold medal each in Nanquan, Nandao and Nangun events) and wildcard Ngamba Aheibam (a silver in Taijiquan and a bronze in Taijijian events).
Kung-Fu events
Taruba Khuraijam earned a bronze medal in the long weapon event as Maisnam Diamond Singh won a gold medal in the Chen style before adding another two bronze medals, one each in the short weapon and long weapon events to take his tally to 3 medals.
Other players winning medals for the State include, Mayengbam Demson (bronze in Wingchun), Akoijam Alex (silver medal in short weapon-fan), Nongmaithem Ningthiba (gold in Dadao), Maibam Priyanka Devi (silver medal in Yang style), Alina Maibam (a bronze medal each in Chen style, short weapon and long weapon events), Carolina Chingakham (gold medal in Chen Style, a silver medal each in the short weapon and long weapon events).
Sanda Events
In the Sanda youth boys' 56 kg event, Laishram Newton clinched a gold medal as Thokchom Malemnganba (60 kg) secured a bronze, Longjam Boyton (65kg) won a silver and Soibm Manglem (75 kg) added a bronze medal in other weight categories.
Toijam Priyaluxmi also secured a gold medal in the Youth girls' 60 kg event while Pangambam Thoicha (48 kg) bagged a bronze, Moirangthem Rajluxmi (52 kg) bagged a bronze and Ningthoujam Priyadarshini Chanu secured a silver medal.
Manipur's Naresh Nongmaithem (56 kg) and Yengkhom Arnold Singh (65 kg) went on to secure a gold medal each in the junior boys' category as Mayanglambam Dinesh (45 kg) settled for a bronze medal.
Khwairakpam Chaoba also earned Manipur a silver medal in the junior girls' 48 kg event and Khwairakpam Linthoungambi secured a bronze medal in the 60 kg event, the release said.
The Manipur team were accompanied by Konsam Hemchandra as team manager for Taolu, Mayanglambam Punshiva as Taolu coach, Moirangthem Ronel as Sanda team manager and Moirangthem Rameshchandra Singh as Sanda coach.
