Financial assist assured

IMPHAL, Oct 29:MoS for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad has assured financial support to people and business units affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad said this while attending a credit outreach programme organised by State Bank of India, Imphal Region as a part of Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav at Wangoi Bazar today and added that special focus need to be given to the business sector to make up for the huge financial losses incurred due to the pandemic.
The Government is also planning to provide financial assistance  even to small business units through banks, he added.
The MoS informed that Manipur has a loan recovery rate of 66 percent which is even higher than the National average. He deliberated on the need to strengthen the relationship with the banks to further strengthen the economy of the State.
Stating that development of India cannot come without development of the North East, Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been giving special attention to the North East by sending every Minister from his Ministry to the region to overlook the development works in the States of North East.
The programme was also attended by Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi; RS Ramesh, Chief General Manager SBI NE Circle and Dr Ch Nandakishore, Director Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.
Passbooks were distributed to account holders of Sukanya Samridhi Yojana and loans to 117 individuals and groups.
