As a part of the National Legal Services Authority's Pan India Legal Awareness and Outreach Campaign in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal on Saturday organised a Legal Awareness Programme/Webinar on the topic "Drug abuse and rehabilitation, a legal perspective".
Speaking on the occasion, A Shanta Devi, Secretary(i/c), DLSA Thoubal summarised the roles and functions of Legal Services Institutions to make the people aware of different acts to deal with the problem of drug abuse in the district and also urged the participants to spread the message far and wide.
B Supriya Devi, Advocate, Panel Lawyer, MASLSA also attended the programme as the resource person.
The event was participated by PLVs, CSOs and locals from Kiyam Leitanpok.
Moreover, DLSA Chandel under the aegis of the NALSA also organised a legal awareness campaign through 'Multi utility van' at Chandel and Tengnoupal districts from October 28 to 29.
The mobile awareness campaign covered about 30 villages of the two districts.
As part of the campaign, pamphlets containing information on free legal aid, services and helpline numbers of Legal services institutions in the State were also distributed to the villagers.
