8th convocation ceremony

The eight convocation ceremony of the NIT (National Institute of Technology) Manipur was held today at NIT Manipur, Langol.
In today's convocation ceremony, Chairman’s Gold Medal was awarded to Avichal Srivastava, Department of Computer Science and Engineering who stood first securing the highest mark among all the students of the of B. Tech degree.  
Gold medals for branch toppers were awarded to Roshan Loitongbam for Civil Engineering, Lal Krishna Pal for Mechanical Engineering, Himanshu Singh for Electronics & Communication and Shailesh Prajapati for Electrical Engineering.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function, Union Minister of State (External Affairs and Education) Dr RK Ranjan Singh congratulated the young graduates and appealed to the students to emphasise more on green technology and green energy for free energy deficiency future as green technology application will monitor, model and conserve the natural environment and resources and also to curb the negative impacts of human involvement.
He further stated that with the implementation of National Education Policy 2020, NIT Manipur will achieve more as the present period is transition phase for science and technology.
While presenting the report, Chairperson of the Senate and the Director of the NIT Manipur Professor Goutam Sutradhar said that as per NIRF Ranking for 2021 the NIT Manipur has been ranked 114th among the technical institutes in the country.
He continued that the institute has been approved as one of the Quality Improvement Programme (Minor), a centre for Faculty Development Programme by AICTE.  During this COVID-19 pandemic, students of NIT Manipur had adjusted to the new system of online learning and self-learning and he also highlighted the activities and programmes taken up by the institute.
Registrar of NIT Manipur Dr Th David Singh earnestly appealed to all degree recipients to utilize their knowledge of Science and Technology for the service of the country and for the glory of NIT Manipur.
Director, NIT Agartala, Jirania, Tripura (W) Prof HK Sharma, Director, NIT Nagaland Prof S Venugopal and Director of the NIT Manipur Prof Goutam Sutradhar graced the function as the presidium members.
It may be mentioned that NIT Manipur was started in 2010 which initially started with just three Under Graduate Programme in the temporary campus located in Polytechnic campus, Takyel has grown into a full-fledged institute offering Under Graduate, Post graduate and PhD Programmes in various streams at Langol.
