IMPHAL, Oct 6 : All the 12 constituent parties of United Front, Manipur have agreed to field a common candidate in at least 11 candidates in the coming Assembly elections. The decision was taken during a meeting conducted on October 3 at the residence of Sapam Opendro Singh, President Bharatiya National Janata Dal, Manipur State Committee at Heingang Awang Leikai.
A press release issued by United Front, Manipur said that following a thorough discussion, four resolutions were passed unequivocally at the meeting with regard to the upcoming Assembly election. First, it was resolved that common candidates from United Front, Manipur will contest the Assembly election from Patsoi, Khetrigao, Khangabok, Naoriya, Keirao, Khurai, Lamsang, Oinam, Konthoujam, Andro, Heingang and Lamlai AC.  Secondly, the responsibility of selecting a worthy candidate to represent United Front, Manipur from Heingang AC has been jointly entrusted to Sapam Opendro Singh,   President of Bharatiya National Janata Dal, Manipur State Committee and Chabungbam Premchandra Singh, Convener, United Front Manipur.  Sapam Opendra Singh and Md Abir Khan have been selected as the vice chairman and executive member respectively of United Front Manipur to ensure better execution of future activities. And lastly, to select common candidates from United Front Manipur for the remaining ACs in the next meeting, the press release added.
