KFA's Open Football Night TourneyYoung Gun's, Chavang FC, TSC enter round of 22
KANGPOKPI, Nov 11: Young Gun's Haipi, Chavang FC, and Thadou Sporting Club made it through to the Round of 22 in the ongoing Kuki Football Academy's Open Night Football Tournament after beating their respective opponents yesterday night at D Phaihel village.
In the first match, Young Gun's Haipi had a hard fought 3-2 win over LMT Gampum to secure the round of 22 berth. It was a tight competition with both playing diligently and it was Satboineo who converted a penalty to hand the Gampum side the lead in the 21st minute.
The Haipi side however fought back well and put in three goals through Kamkalthang (37'), Tinhao (49'-P), and Khaigunhao (52') to overturn the lead.
Lunjakai then helped Gampum side pull back a goal in the 74th minute but it was too late for the team to draw level and extend the match to penalties.
The second match saw LMT Chalwa and Chavang FC playing out a 2-2 draw during normal time but the latter team won 5-4 via penalties.
Mangginthang shone with a double (8', 49') for the Chalwa side during normal time while Seigoumang (60') and Kamgougin (70') scored for Chavang FC.
In the third match, debutant Thadou Sporting Club carved out an easy 4-1 win over KAFT extending their unbeaten record in the tournament.
KAFT raced ahead when their captain Thangboi found the net with his brilliant strike in the 9th minute but it were Thadou Sporting Club who dominated the game with Sehgouthang scoring a hattrick (26', 29', 33') and S Lhouvum netting the final goal in the 41st minute.
It may be noted that, ever since the commencement of the knockout stage, the organising committee has been conducting 'Luckiest Fan' entertainment program by choosing one of the fans who fulfil the criteria to be the luckiest fan and presenting them the Kuki Football Academy's official T-Shirt.
Apart from it, the committee has also been interacting and interviewing the fans and the team captains to entertain and gain more attraction from the audience.
