KANGPOKPI, Nov 21: As Motbung Youth Club (A) and Chalbung Junior defeated their respective opponent yesterday night in the last round of the round of 22, altogether 12 teams sailed through to the quarterfinals round of the ongoing Kuki Football Academy's Open Night Football Tournament 2021.
Motbung Youth Club (A) team led by Paolenlal, popularly known as Paonaldo for his similar playing style of the famous Ronaldo, overwhelmed Kuki Modern College Imphal 3-1 to find a spot in the quarterfinals round.
Paolenlal hit the opener for the winning side in the 14th minute before  Paogouthang (29') and Solomon (64') too consolidated a goal each. The solitary goal of Kuki Modern College was scored by Seilenmang in the 53rd minute.
In the second match, Chalbung Junior had a narrow 6-5 win over Phaihel Youth Club via tiebreaker after both teams played out a 2-2 draw during the normal time. Sangpu Singsit (5', 53') scored both the two important goals for Chalbung Junior while Laljalen (18') and Thangjalen (23') scored for the Phaihel side.
The twelve teams who have qualified for the quarterfinals round are Taphou Football Club, Twilang Area Sporting Association (TASA), SMT Haipi, PMT, Kholjang Youth Club, Saitu Gamphazol Area Youth Organization (SGAYO), LS Football Academy, Tusam Area Youth Welfare Association (TAYWA) Saikul, KMT Khongngam, Chalbung Junior, Motbung Youth Club (A) team and Lalcha Memorial Team.
The first quarterfinal match will be played on November 23 evening between Taphou Football Club and Twilang Area Sporting Association (TASA) while the second match will be played between SMT Haipi and PMT.
