Assam Down Town University renders yeoman service in field of education

Assam down town University (AdtU) located at Panikhaiti, Chandrapur, one of the leading universities of North East India has successfully served as the gateway for professional and personal development for students from not only the North East of India but also from the rest of India and neighbouring countries.
Aligning with the vision of down town Charity Trust which is to uplift all sections of people, AdtU has striven to promote and facilitate collaborative programmes for the upliftment of intellectual and cultural capital of the region so that deserving candidates are not deprived of higher education. The Scholarship Programmes at AdtU are diverse and cater to a wide section of aspiring candidates.
All semester fees are waived off for students who belong to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category. The Post Matric Scholarship Scheme provides access to higher education to students belonging to the minority communities and to SC, ST, OBC communities where fees are marginally waived off.
Meritorious students securing 80% to 90% and above in Board and University Examinations get the benefit of some of their semester fees being waived off. There are similar Scholarships for students applying from other parts of the country (other than the North East), Foreign Nationals, and even for in-house students seeking to pursue undergraduate and post-graduate study in the University.
Recently, the Varsity instituted a scheme to provide financial assistance to candidates who have been orphaned due to Covid-19, but want to continue their studies and  enrol in the UG and PG study programmes. There is a selection criterion that has to be fulfilled by the applicants before the benefits can be awarded to the eligible candidates.
The University is recognized by the UGC, AICTE, and accredited by NAAC, and boasts of world-class infrastructure, 70+ labs, and access to more than 60 disciplines and 250+ teaching faculty.  The placement record has been impressive at 90% between the years 2019 and 2020.
