IMPHAL, Nov 24: The Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Professor N Lokendra launched a cycle service in the MU campus today.
The programme was organised by Manipur University Students Union (MUSU).
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that the cycle service has been relaunched today as the previous cycle service which was started in 2018 under the theme 'Go Green' was halted due to COVID-19 pandemic.
He maintained that there is a concern that the academic activities inside the MU campus might get disturbed due to the large number of vehicles entering the campus without proper speed limits which may even harm the students.
With the existence of banks inside the MU campus, the  hustle and bustle have increased considerably, he added.
He further stated that in view of the above circumstances and to strive for a healthy well being, the cycle service has been launched at a minimum rental rate of Rs 10 per cycle and the cycles can be rented from MU Main gate from 9.30 am till 5 pm.
