IMPHAL, Nov 25 : Manipur women's team were crowned regu champions of the 31st Senior National Sepak Takraw Championship organised at Lovely Profession University under the supervision of Sepak Takraw Federation of India.
State women's team who had sweeping 2-0 wins against Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Telangana and Punjab and emerge Group (A) leaders yesterday had and impressive outing today to beat UP women 21-6, 21-10 in a one sided final match today.
Earlier in the quarter final match, State women beat Delhi 21-2, 21-8 to set up semi-final date with SSB.
In the semi-final, Manipur overcame SSB 21-16, 21-18 and booked the final berth.
Meanwhile, State men settled with the third place title in the regu event after beating Nagaland 21-9, 21-16.
They got off to a good start today with a 21-9, 21-12 win over UP in the quarter final match but suffered 9-21, 13-21 loss in the hands of SSB in the semi-final.
