Dengue cases not alarming

IMPHAL, Nov 27 : Health Director Dr K Rajo has stated that the State has so far detected 154 Dengue cases of which 91 were reported from Tengnoupal, specially the border town Moreh alone.
Speaking to media persons at Lamphelpat today, the Health Director continued that the situation, however, is not alarming as there are only eight active cases.
Most of the Dengue patients recuperated from the viral disease swiftly, he added.
Dr Rajo further stated that the active cases are residents of  Imphal East (2), Bishnupur (1), Thoubal (1) and Moreh (4).
A health team of State Malaria office and District Malaria office has been sent to Moreh to examine the situation there, he said and added that the State Government has also initiated all possible measures to prevent further outbreak of Dengue.
At the same time, the people have also been advised to keep their surroundings neat to prevent mosquito breeding.
On Covid, the Health Director stated that contact tracing, vaccination, testing drives are still underway in full swing to defeat the pandemic. He also said that the 200-bedded Covid Hospital at Kyamgei would  be inaugurated on December 10.
Apart from this, Covid Care Centres at Bal Bhawan, RD Wing and Lamboikhongnangkhong are still open to keep Covid patients, he said and added that ICU facilities have also been installed at different district hospitals and Community Health Centres.
Dr Rajo also stated that altogether 27 oxygen plants and two liquid medical have been installed at different districts.
On the detection of a new Covid variant at South Africa and some other countries, the Health Director informed that strict preventive measures have been put into effect at entry points - Airport, Mao gate and Jiribam.
Saying that unvaccinated people have been refrained from entering the State, Dr Rajo maintained that the State is prepared to face a new wave of COVID-19.
He then appealed to the people to always conform to the SOPs for COVID-19 and take full doses of Covid vaccine without hesitation.
