Drug unit busted

BISHNUPUR, Nov 26: Bishnupur District Police seized a large quantity of suspected poppy seeds along with other items suspected to be used in manufacturing contraband drugs.
A team of Bishnupur District Police conducted an operation on November 25 at around 5.30 pm at the residence of one Md Janap Khan alias Babul of Kwakta Ward no 3 on receiving information regarding pre- sence of a contraband drug manufacturing unit in the area.
During the operation the team recovered 202.2 kgs of suspected poppy seeds, 36.5 kgs of a white chemical, 800 litres of Hydrogen Peroxide, 136 nos of iron plate and weighing machine.
One person who was identified as Md Nawas Khan Singamayum (25), s/o Md Tayeb Ali alias Tomba of Borayangbi Awang ward no 1  was detained. Md Nawas Khan Singamayum disclosed that he was working at the contraband manufacturing unit owned by Md Janap Khan.
The arrested person and the seized items were handed over to Moirang PS and a case has been registered at Moirang PS for further investigation.
