Police personnel feted; gambling dice 'lagao' destroyed

IMPHAL, Nov 8: Dr S Ibomcha, SP Imphal West handed over SP appreciation certificate and cash reward to Inspector N Ingocha, OC Imphal Police Station and Sub-Inspector B Amarjeet Sharma (Imphal West Commando) for seizing the highest number of gambling dice (Lagao) at a simple function held at SP Imphal West complex today.
Speaking to media persons, Dr S Ibomcha said Imphal West district police and commando personnel carried out a drive against gambling dice for the last 15 days to prevent any unwanted incident due to gambling during the festive season and to maintain law and order situation in the district. During the drive, different police stations in the district seized 337 sets of gambling dice and another 251 sets by Imphal West Commando teams.
61 modified silencer pipes (exhaust pipes) of motorbikes were also removed and seized by Imphal West district police.
During the drive, Imphal Police Station seized the maximum number of dice sets (90), Patsoi Police Station (83) and Wangoi Police Station (62).
Officer in Charge of Patsoi and Wangoi Police Stations Inspector Sanjoy and B Lungthang Vaiphei, were also handed over appreciation and cash reward by the SP today.
Further SP appreciation certificate were also handed over to Sub Inspector B Amarjeet Sharma Imphal West commando for seizing 65 sets followed by Sub Inspector Shitaljit Imphal west commando and Jemandar A Sadananda Imphal West commando for seizing 28 sets and 25 sets respectively
Later the seized gambling dice and modified silencer pipes were destroyed by crushing it with the road roller inside the SP Imphal West complex.
