'Arrested sans memo'

IMPHAL, Dec 9 : Yumkhaibam Tampha has written to the Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur in connection with the arrest of her father Y Bimol Meitei of Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai by Imphal West commando without 'giving any proper reason or arrest memo' on December 7.
Yumkhaibam Tampha in the letter stated that her father was arrested by a team of Imphal West commando from his residence on December 7 at around 6 am and when inquired about the reason for arrest, the commando personnel told her that they have come to arrest her father as per the directions of Imphal West SP and did not provided them the arrest warrant.
She went on to state that on the same day they went to Imphal West commando complex at around 9.30 am but they were not allowed to meet nor communicate with her father and he was not produced before the Court concerned as well though 24 hours have surpassed since the time of arrest.
Stating that such an act of flagrant violation of human rights, she urged the authorities concerned to intervene in the matter immediately.
It may be noted  that a similar complaint has also been filed to the Manipur Human Right Commission by Yumkhaibam Tampha against DGP Manipur Police, SP Imphal West and OC Lilong Police station as respondents.
Manipur Human Right Commission registered it as MHRC complaint case number 159 of 2021 and asked the DGP Manipur to direct SP Imphal West to submit an inquiry report to the Commission on or before December 20.
