Ronaldo clinches four gold medals as Manipur finish overall runners up in Cycling Nationals

IMPHAL, Dec 28 : L Ronaldo fetched four gold medals to bag best cyclist title and ensure Manipur finish overall runners up in the 73rd Senior, 50th Junior and 36th Sub-Junior National Track Cycling Championships held at Jaipur.
In all, Manipur collected 7 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze medals at the championship.
In the elite men's team sprint competition, L Ronaldo, Y Rojit and K Jemsh clocked 1 minute and 2.885 seconds to clinch the gold medal.
Longjam Ronaldo then grabbed his second gold medal in the 1000 m individual time trial with the best time of 1 minute and 5.587 seconds.
Ronaldo also clinched both the 200 m sprint gold with a time of 10.565 seconds and elite men's Keirin competition.
The other gold medals for the State were won by H Premika Chanu in sub-junior girls 5 km scratch race with a time of 8 minutes 27.839 seconds; Y Birjit in the junior men's 7 km scratch race with a time of 10 minutes 19.305 seconds and N Bisheshori in the junior women's 4 km title trial event with a time of 6 minutes 46.989 seconds.
In the junior men's 3 km individual pursuit, Y Birjit clocked 3:43.348 to win a silver medal. Birjit along with Kh Rahul, S Sanathoi, Birjit Yumnam and K Bishan also bagged a silver medal for Manipur in the junior men's team sprint finishing the course in 1 minute 6.107 seconds.
The Sub-Junior Girls' team consisting of H Premika Chanu, S Bidyarani Chanu and H Thajamanbi Chanu took 1 minute 21.758 seconds to win a silver medal.
Other silver medals were collected by M Wattaba Meitei in the sub-junior boys' 500 m individual time trial in which he finished second with 36.388 seconds and Tarunkumar Thokchom who finished second in the youth girls individual time trial event.
W Bidyananda, T Bipil and M Wattaba on the other hand bagged a bronze medal in the sub-junior boys team sprint event with a time of 1 minute 11.639 seconds.
In the elite women's individual pursuit event, Kh Rejiya bagged a bronze medal with a time of 4 minutes 15.896 seconds and H Premika earned the other bronze medal in the sub-junior girls' individual 500 m time trial event with a time of 40.775 seconds.
