Paban Kumar’s ‘Nine Hills One Valley’... Selected for Kolkata film fest

Manipuri filmmaker Paban Kumar’s ‘Nine Hills One Valley’ has been selected for competition in the prestigious Kolkata film festival.
‘Nine Hills One Valley’ is a narrative feature film in Manipuri and Tangkhul languages.
The 27th edition of the Kolkata film festival will be held from January 7 to 14 in Kolkata.
Notably, ‘Nine Hills One Valley’ is also eyeing to win the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award.
Other films that are in contention for the NETPAC award alongside ‘Nine Hills One Valley’ are: Ajob Karkhana (Bangladesh), Kalkokkho (India), Thou’ll Look Back No More, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never (Japan), Ming Kiyal (Kyrgyzstan), Co Gai Den Tu Dak Lak (Vietnam), Baagh (India) and Manikbabur Megh (India).
‘Nine Hills One Valley’ is about a Tangkhul Naga from the hills in Manipur, who travels to Imphal city in the valley to meet his daughter before she leaves for New Delhi in search of a job.  
During the course of his journey, he meets different people and get to know about their stories, realising the brutishness of ethnic conflicts.  
‘Nine Hills One Valley’ is produced by Warepam Jhansirani and Haobam Paban Kumar for Oli Pictures.  
Notably, Paban Kumar’s debut feature – Loktak Lairembee – had won the best film for NETPAC Award in the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival 2016.
