Training programme conducted

A 3 day farmers training programme on 'Mass multiplication of honeybee colonies and honey processing' was conducted from December 2 to 4 under All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on honeybees and pollinators, Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The training programme was inaugurated on December 2 in the presence of the Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal.
A total of 30 farmers from five districts of the State namely Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal attended the training programme.
During the programme, lectures were conducted on different themes like Queen rearing method, entrepreneurship through honey processing for rural youth, scientific honey bee rearing techniques etc by different scientists. It may be noted that the Department of entomology also started the raw honey of farmers at a minimum processing fee and also started selling processed honey at College of Agriculture, Iroisemba.
