Disqualify call

IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Endorsing the demand seeking disqualification of the 12 MLAs who were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries by the BJP led State Government, a protest demonstration was staged today at Indira Gandhi Community Hall at Mekola Bazar under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency.
During the demonstration organised by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block Congress Committee, placards that read "Respect the Court Judgement''; Lets Save Manipur from BJP''; "Disqualify the 12 MLAs} etc., were used.
Speaking to media persons, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) secretary, Dr S Manaoton said that the High Court of Manipur had already delivered a judgement that appointing the 12 MLAs as Parliamentary Secretaries is unconstitutional.
Saying that the Congress MLAs submitted a petition to the Governor and the Election Commission of India to disqualify the 12 MLAs, Manaoton added that the Governor as well as the ECI have given no positive response till date.
Dr Manaoton said the Congress had filed a petition to the Supreme Court.
