2009 killing of boy : 8 accused cops asked to appear before Court

IMPHAL, Feb 19: The Court of CJM, Imphal West has taken cognizance of the killing of a boy by a combined team of Thoubal commandos and 21 Assam Rifles (D-Coy) at Phoubakchao under Mayang Imphal police station on March 17, 2009.
The deceased had been already identified as one Md Azad Khan and CBI has been investigating his killing as per a directive of the Supreme Court.
A senior PP of CBI submitted a petition at the Court of CJM Imphal West today praying for prosecution of the accused.
After perusing the case records, the CJM declared that sufficient materials for proceeding of the case have been found and cognizance has been taken against eight accused persons.
The eight accused persons have been identified as Bronson Thanga Chiru (then Havildar of Thoubal Commando), Ksh Rama Singh (then Rifleman), PS Sanjoy Anal (then Rifleman), Phuritsabam Suresh Meetei (then Havildar), Sh Thangjapao Touthang (then Rifleman/Driver), K Rabichandra Singh (then Rifleman), Ng Tronil James (then Rifleman) and M Budhichandra Singh (then Rifleman). Directing all the accused persons to appear before the Court, the CJM has fixed March 17 for the next round of hearing.
