Create ADCs call sounded
IMPHAL, Feb 19
The pending elections to the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) should not be held unless ADCs for the newly created districts of Pherzawl, Kamjong, Noney and Tengnoupal are created, said Demand Committee on Creation of Autonomous District Councils (DCCADCs).
In a statement, the committee said the resolution was taken during a meeting held at Amity Hall Adimjati Chingmeirong Imphal today with the objective to intensify its demand.
A memorandum demanding creation of ADCs of the districts will also be submitted to
Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon, said the committee.
No ADC election should be held denying the rights to equality of other hill districts (newly created districts). Various forms of democratic and peaceful agitation will be launched if the ADCs are not created for the new districts at the earliest, said the committee seeking an appointment with Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister for dialogue on the demand.
Meanwhile, a peaceful procession was organised in front of Adimjati Complex Chingmeirong today demanding creation of the ADCs at the earliest, added the committee.
It may be noted that seven new districts-Pherzawl, Kamjong, Noney, Tengnoupal, Jiribam, Kakching and Kangpokpi were created in 2016.
