All Liangmai Naga Students’ Union wants ERMS at Kuilong circle
IMPHAL, Feb 20
The Laingmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (All Liangmai Naga Students’ Union) has appealed the Government to bring the allotted Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) for north Tamenglong to Kuilong circle.
Stating that the EMRS should be brought at Kuilong village or any other village under Kuilong circle as the region doesn’t have a single secondary level school, the student body said it would launch agitation if its demand is not heard by the Government.
In a statement, the student body said it has learned that the EMRS is likely to be located at Phalong village, which is only 20 kilometres away from Tamei/Langmei which has both the Langmei Higher Secondary School and a Model Residential school. Moreover, Phalong village is only 28 km from Tamenglong district headquarters which has Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) and many reputed educational institutions.
On the other hand, Kuilong village has not a single higher secondary school and residential school. It is the most backward and neglected area of Manipur, it said, appealing the Government to bring the ERMS to Kuilong circle.
