IMPHAL, Feb 22
NH-37 Patsoi to Sehjang Ching Tam Sinmee Lup in a statement appealed to the Government to draft a policy to allow stone crushing along NH-37.
The Lup urged the Government to lift the ban on stone crushing along NH-37 within five days. If their demands are not heeded the labourers warned of an indefinite bandh on NH-37 from February 27 and sought the support of the public and CSOs for the cause.
The Lup expressed discontentment that the Government banned the stone crushing activities which is the major source of livelihood for labourers along NH-37 without making any prior alternative arrangement.
Taking into consideration the plight of the labourers, the Lup urged the Government to lift the ban at the earliest and allow to resume stone crushing.
