IMPHAL, Feb 5 : A meeting was convened at the office of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) at Konung Mamang today to lay out further course of agitation in connection with the KIMACS's call for recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers in the State.
The meeting was attended by eminent Thang-Ta practitioners and teachers from across the State, said a statement issued by KIMACS.
The meeting was convened in view of the Government's indifferent attitude towards recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers and members present were of the view that the recruitment process is very much required considering the future of the students who fully deserve to gain Thang-Ta knowledge, the statement said.
The members present resolved to sustain agitation in case the Government continues to sideline the call of Thang-Ta bodies and teachers for timely recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers citing financial constraints, it said. The members had also expressed that stressing on recruitment of teachers of other subjects while neglecting recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers is indeed a pressing matter which needs to be deliberated.
The indigenous martial art form passed down from the forefathers must be preserved and disseminated to the growing generations, the members had opined while calling upon the State Government to think conscientiously and initiate recruitment of teachers through which the Thang-Ta knowledge can be propagated extensively, it continued.
