Directorate of Transport appeals

IMPHAL, Feb 5 : Directorate of Transport, Government of Manipur appealed to all the Transporter Associations/Unions to comply with the notifications issued by Transport Department for resumption of the passenger carrying transport system at normal fare in public interest.
The Transport Department expressed belief that the Transporter Association/Unions will extend cooperation without compelling the Government to take unwanted steps against the violators, said a statement.
Further the Transport Department stated that it is working on the revision of the present rate of fare, freight and hiring charges of vehicles and will finalize it soon.
It may be mentioned that some transporters associations/unions have failed to comply with the Government directions for resumption of the passenger fare to normal with 80 percent capacity and it has resulted into various forms of agitations like bandh, strike etc by the student community in particular and public in general thereby causing public inconveniences.
