HAC makes stand official

IMPHAL, Mar 13 : The Hill Areas Committee (HAC), Manipur Legislative Assembly, in its meeting held on March 11, 2021, has resolved that there is a procedural error in the declaration of reserved forest after 1972.
In an office memorandum, Chairman of HAC, K Leishiyo directed that any declaration of Protected Forest, Reserved Forest and Wild Life Sanctuaries  on or after June 20, 1972 shall not be enforced  by the Department until the approval of the Hill Areas Committee is obtained, since it pertains to scheduled matters of Article 371 C of the Presidential Order of 1972.
Forest territorial maps should be made at par with the existing Revenue district boundaries for administrative convenience, he added.
