ISAK level 1 course organised

IMPHAL, Mar 21: The 'Isak  Level 1 International Accreditation course in Kinanthropometry' jointly organised by Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University and International Society for Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) was held from March 18 to 20.
The inaugural function of the course was attended by Prof T Inaobi Singh, dean, School of Education, Manipur University; Dr Anup Adhikari, exercise physiologist, level 4 anthropometries and criterion photoscopic somatotype rater and Dr Konthoujam Konsana Meitei, ISAK level 2 instructor as presidium members.
Dr L Santosh Singh, course coordinator of the ISAK level1 course said this was the first time such a course was organised in Manipur.
During the course, Dr Anup Adhikari and Dr Konthoujam Konsana Meitei took technical sessions including intensive hands on course, knowledge, skills and confidence to collect an array of physique related information including height, weight, breadths, girths and skinfolds based on internationally agreed protocol.
The course covered different chapters during the 3 days training including Kinanthropometry, Somatotype, Photoscopic Somatotyping, Anthropometry and Sports Performance, Body Composition, How to calculate body fat% with skinfold callipers, Growth and development, Application anthropometry in different fields like Physiology, Nutrition, Sports, Anthropology, Physical fitness, Talent identification, Similarity and phantom  'z' score, Anthropometry for disabled etc with practical part if measuring different skinfold sites and segments with international standard methods and Technical Error Measurements (TEM).
The course was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr L Thambal Singh, assistant professor, Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University.
