World TB Day observed

IMPHAL, Mar 24: The 40th World Tuberculosis (TB) Day was observed at Sangai Hall of Imphal Hotel today organised by State TB Cell Manipur and National Health Mission (NHM) Manipur.
This year World TB Day 2021 is observed under the theme 'The Clock is Ticking'
MLA Sapam Ranjan, Health Advisor of Chief Minister  and V Vunlunmaang, IAS, principal secretary of Health and Family Welfare graced the occasion as the chief guest and president respectively.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Thangpa Serto said that World TB Day is celebrated inorder to raise public awareness about TB.
He continued that TB is curable and quality treatment is provided for free and said that it is being aimed to eradicate TB worldwide by 2030 however India is aiming to eradicate TB by 2025.
Further he emphasised on the role of doctors where they should try and find out TB cases to achieve the dream of eradicating TB from India  by 2025 along with the support of the people.
Speaking as the chief guest, Sapam Ranjan said World TB Day is observed  every year on March 24 which is the day when Dr Robert Koch discovered TB in 1882.
He also stated that India's aim of eradicating TB by 2025 can only be achieved if everyone supports the cause.
