National Thang-Ta Championship Day 1 : Manipur clinch 16 gold medals

IMPHAL, Mar 27 : The 26th National Thang-Ta Championship kick-started today at Khuman Lampak.
The inaugural function was graced by Soraisam Kebi, Managing Director of Chumthang Shannapung; Huidrom Premkumar, president Huiyen Lalong Thang-Ta Association; chief advisor to Thang-Ta Federation of India, Padmashree RK Achouba and State Kala Akademi Awardee (Thang-Ta), Kh Dhabalo Khaba as  presidium members.
Altogether 449 athletes from 19 States are taking part in the competition which will continue till March 30.
Manipur clinched 16 gold medals in the sub-junior boys phunaba ama event on day 1 of the championship.
The gold medallists are H Priyobarta Luwang (-25 kg); L Athoiba Meitei (-29 kg); Sagar Sunar (-33kg); Victoraj Ngangom (-37kg); Th Dienal Singh (-41kg); Korounganba Longjam (-49kg); H Ridesh Singh (-53kg); Ph Bishorjit Singh (+53 kg); Rionel Hijam; Lous Ningthoujam (-29kg); H Yangba Singh (-33kg); N Rajesh Singh (-37kg); Th Shriibasha Singh (-41kg); Th Shrinibash Singh (-45 kg); K Loveson Singh (-49kg); S Nongyai Meitei (-53kg).
