NESU beat RAU 1-0 to clin

IMPHAL, Mar 8 : NESU, Khurai sealed a narrow 1-0 win against RAU, Lairikyengbam Leikai to win the 1st AMFA Cup title at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.
The lone goal that earned NESU the tournament title was scored by Giftson Kamei early in the third minute.
The remainder of the game saw the two sides stringing a series of incisive runs but owing to either lack of precision or firm defence line up, the game had to be settled via the sole goal by Giftson.
The game was on the other hand an aggressive outing as three NESU players and four RAU players were yellow carded.
Meanwhile in the contest for third place, LYGSEDA-Lonpi Area thrashed LYCC, Chandel with a comeback 6-2 win as Thangtinlen hit a brace and Paolenlal scored twice.
LYCC led the game 2-0 till the first 40 minutes thanks to two back to back goals by Marconi (26') and Bedeenpar (28') but Thangtinlen pulled back a goal in the 41st minute helped LYGSEDA enter the break 1-2.
LYGSEDA picked up their game from where they left and it was Thingtinlen yet on the target in the 64th minute bringing his side on level terms with LYCC.
LYGSEDA pushed for more goals as LYCC were left stunned with a huge comeback in sight and it was in the 75th minute that Seilenlal completed the turnaround before Paolenlal cemented the lead to 4-1 with his first goal in the 84th minute. Seminthang then fired home another in the 90th minute and Paolenlal hit the final nail deep into the stoppage time (90+2') to seal the game 6-2.
NESU eventually walked away with winners prize of Rs 2,00,000 and a trophy and runners up, team got a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 and a trophy.
The tournament participated by 11 teams clustered into two groups was organised by the All Manipur Football Association and sponsored by Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust.
