Two drug manufacturing labs busted, 3 held

IMPHAL, Mar 8 : A team of Thoubal commandos busted two heroin/brown sugar manufacturing laboratories at Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai yesterday at around 10.50 pm and arrested three individuals.
The team also seized heroin/brown sugar (refined) weighing 565 gram, 1104.98 kg of heroin/brown sugar, 5 kg of opium, 131 litre of morphinated liquid, Rs 61,400 in cash and other items, said Thoubal SP , Dr S Ibomcha in a press release.
According to the SP, the laboratories were operating at the houses of Md Maneruddin (49), S/o Late Md Najeruddin and  Md Manergul (53), S/o Late  Md Najeruddin of Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai while the arrested individuals are Md Yunus Khan (22), S/o Md Maniruddin of Nungei Mamang Leikai, Bogimayum Sher Shaha (23), S/o B Sheraj Ahamad of Uchiwa Haotabi Makha Leikai and Md Manergul.
Altogether 4 vehicles- Bajaj Discover, Activa 5g, Komaki X3 (red)  without registration number and one Dio scooter (black) which are suspected to be used in transportation of drugs were also seized by the commandos, Dr Ibomcha said.
The release also mentioned the names of 4 persons who are 'involved in the drug manufacturing but at large'. They are Md Akbar Khan (51), S/o Md Chaoba of Thoubal Moijing Wangmataba, Md Maneruddin, S/o  Late  Md Najeruddin of Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai, Md Anish Khan (19), S/o Md Maneruddin of Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai and Md Mustofa (19), S/o Md Manergul of  Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai.
The SP further informed that Md Akbar was dismissed from  police service on October 26, 2020 for involvement in a drug case.
A case has been registered at Thoubal police station.
