'Phala' regales all at Khamor Angkhui fest

Ukhrul , Apr 15: With much glee and joy, the women of Chingjaroi village dressed in their traditional attire and fineries greeted the audience with the most popular village folk dance "Phala" to marked the beginning of the local festival 'Khamor Angkhui' of Chingjaroi village.
Phala, a unique dancing style performed by forming a group among village women irrespective of their age enthralled the day by showcasing their dancing talents.
The competitors able to withstand the dance without breaking themselves of the dance troupe till the end would be declared winner of the Phala folk dance competition.
Khamor Angkhui is a myriad cultural event mesmerized with lively display of cultural Hata Khamahon, folk song and traditional games. Hunting and fishing were also an integral part of the five day cultural event. The Indigenous cuisine "athokra" was also served to the visiting guests.
It may be mentioned that Chingjaroi Khullen, Chingjaroi Ngachaphung and Chingjaroi CV is situated in the northern part of Ukhrul district.
