Shirui thanks

Ukhrul, Apr 1 : Shirui Villagers have extended gratitude to all individuals who took part in fighting the massive wildfire that broke out at Shirui Kashong (25th - 29th March).
The fire destroyed about 122 hectares of land of Shirui mountain areas including the abode of Shirui Lily.
The Shirui villagers, in particular, thanked Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Director General of NDRF for providing two helicopters to douse the fire.
They also thanked Ukhrul MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam for contributing Rs 1 lakh,  MH Khan, Addl Chief Secretary of Relief & Disaster Management (Rs 50,000) and Ukhrul DC Joseph Pauline Kamson (Rs 1 lakh), GA Shimray (Rs 10,000 and 90 bags of rice) for their contributions to the village.
The villagers also acknowledged the support of  IK Muivah, IGP (Admin); Themthing Ngashangva, DIG Range 1 & I/C Director, Fire Services; SDO Ukhrul; SDO Jessami; NDRF; Fire Department, Ukhrul; Forest Department, Ukhrul; Police Department, Ukhrul; Assam Rifles, Ukhrul; 6th Manipur Rifles; District Hospital, Ukhrul; people of  Sihai Khullen, Ukhrul, Shangshak Phunghon and journalists based in the district;  TKS, Phungcham Village and Yaruingam Shimray of  Hunphun village among others.
They further thanked the people of Mapithel areas for allowing to draw water from the Mapithel Dam and volunteers of Shirui Youth Club, Shirui Students' Union, Shirui Lily Festival Local Organising Committee, Shirui WRC Group involved in fighting the wildfire.
