AIMS appeals to stop the import and sale of tobacco and nicotine products

IMPHAL, Apr 21: Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) in a press release appealed to all the concerned to stop the import of betel nuts, tobacco and nicotine products in the State with immediate effect as it will pace up the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
AIMS stated that the whole world is reeling under the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and Manipur is also experiencing a spike in Covid positive cases.
If the import of tobacco products is not stopped on time, the State will experience a worse menace of tobacco and nicotine products therefore AIMS will keep a strict vigil and will carry out drive to check on the import and sale of such products.
The student body also warned that if one is found is selling the above mentioned products, it will be destroyed at the spot.
Further AIMS also stated that it will keep a check on the import of low quality sanitizers which do not have the right percentage of Ethanol, alcohol and ethyl alcohol  made by unknown companies and low quality face masks.
