IMPHAL, Apr 26 : Urging the Government to 'revoke the order appointing a non-professional' as Director of Agriculture Department,  the All Manipur Agriculture Department Employee Welfare Organisation (AMADEWO) staged a sit-in protest, today.
The protest demonstration staged at the complex of the Agriculture Department, Sanjenthong was also supported by All Manipur Agriculture Technologist Association (AMATA) and All Manipur Horticulture Technologist Association (AMHTA).
Speaking to media persons, general secretary of AMADEWO, Laitongbam Sanatomba stated that the order appointing one MCS officer as the Director of the Agri department was issued on April 20.
As there are certain senior officers fit for the post, the organisation submitted an ultimatum to the Chief Minister to revoke the order the following day (April 21), he said adding that the three bodies resolved to start agitating as no response came.
Cautioning that they will launch stringent agitations if their demand is not entertained within 48 hours,   Sanatomba conveyed that they are all set to continue the sit-in till tomorrow (April 27), hold a black badge protest from April  28 to 30 and carry on the protest with pen down strike from May 1 to 3.
He further urged the Government to revoke the order and appoint a Director with an agriculture background and based on seniority.
