THOUBAL, Apr 27: A 12 bedded isolation ward was inaugurated today at Thoubal District Hospital today as per the directives of the State Government.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul stated that a 100 bedded Covid Care Centre will be opened in GNM School of Nursing located in the Thoubal District Hospital complex on April 29.
The CMO made the above statement while speaking to media persons today and spoke about the current COVID-19 situation in Thoubal district where two persons succumbed to the virus recently and the positive cases are increasing.
He further stated that the isolation ward opened today is exclusively for Covid patients whose Blood Oxygen Level SpO2 is between 90 to 94 and asymptomatic patients who do cannot be under home isolation.
He also informed that as per the new directives, the Government will only bear the expense of room facility including water and electricity as of now but the food cost should be borne by the inmates.
Lastly he appealed to all to strictly adhere to Covid SOPs laid down by the Government and to get inoculated of the vaccine to protect oneself from the pandemic.
And he called for cooperation and support from the public in the initiatives taken up by the Government and Health Society to help to fight against the second wave of the Covid pandemic.
