Fire ravages

Imphal, Apr 29 : A large portion of compartment no 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Lamlong Block which falls under Chingkhei Ching Reserved Forest have been devastated by fire.
It is reported that the fire which started on April 26 was doused by the Forest Department with the help of clubs, organisations and localities of the area on April 28.
According to the Forest Department, the fire which is suspected to have been started by certain miscreants from different sides took 3 days in dousing.
The organisations/associations that assisted the Forest Department in putting off the forest fire are Sangsabi Youth Development Organization, JFMC Kangla Siphai, Kangla Siphai Youth Organization, Nongpok Chingkhei Apanba Youth Development Committee, GLF Chingkheigi Mangal Self Help Group and Chingkhei Youth Welfare & Musical Club.
