Install CCTV cameras at accident prone areas: ZCO
IMPHAL, Apr 6
The Government should install CCTV cameras in all the important road junctions of villages and towns along the National Highways so as to easily identify the vehicles involved in any hit and run case and to make the drivers more cautious and alerts while on the wheels.
Zeliangrong Civil Organisation (ZCO) said this in a statement issued today and added in most cases of hit and run, the drivers and vehicles involved are never caught and the victims are left with the loss of lives or left disabled. Only in certain cases when the vehicles are caught red handed, the victim and the vehicle drivers/owners reached certain arrangement, but that is a rare case, added the statement.
The statement added that most of the accidents are caused by reckless driving or driving under the influence of intoxicants. Such drivers does not have respect for the value of lives.
Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students' Union appealed the Government to take the issue of hit and run seriously and take up necessary steps to prevent such incidents and ease the woes of the people living along the National Highways.
