Leishemba Sanajaoba adopts Champhung as "Model Village"
Ukhrul, Apr 7: Rajya Sabha Member, Leishemba Sanajaoba while addressing the launching programme of Champhung Model Village stated that he chose to adopt Champhung Village as his first model village in Ukhrul district to renew the matrimonial ties with Champhung village and also to build a strong relationship with all communities living in the State by enhancing development work in few selected villages equipped with modern facilities as role model in rural villages.
Champhung village has a story of our forefather's matrimonial relation, a beautiful lady 'Champhung Yaozala' got married to the Maharaja of Manipur in the past, stated Sanajaoba.
This factual ancestral relationship must be respected by all contemporary peoples to strengthen the age old relation.
Titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba launched the "Champhung Model Village" under LM Block, Ukhrul at the Champhung village ground in presence of MLA Khashim, DC, CEO, SDO, DLOs, headmen and ex-councillors at Champhung Village ground.
The programme began with the unveiling of a monument by Leishemba Sanajaoba as the chief guest of the function. The visiting Titular King was accompanied by his better half Laimarenbi.
MLA Khashim Vashum who attended the programme as a special guest expressed his personal commitment and assured to extend his support to achieve the goals of the villagers.
A model village should be free from drugs, anti-social activities and must provide a peaceful atmosphere to all. Community participation is a must to achieve the dream of Champhung villagers, he added.
Ibochaoba Singh, Nodal officer SAGY, enlightened the villagers about the execution of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) scheme and stated that no specific or separate funds were reserved for the project, it has to be executed through a convergent programme.
Meanwhile, Wungchipem, Headman of Champhung Village expressed his gratitude to the visiting Rajya Sabha Member, Leishemba Sanajaoba for adopting Champhung as a model village despite the land terrain and far flung distance from district headquarters.
