IMPHAL, Apr 9 : ESU capped its campaign in the Maharaj Kumar Ghanendrajit Super Division Football League Tournament with a 2-0 win against PYA, Kairang at XI Star SU ground, Akampat today.
ESU which have been in brilliant form since the beginning of the match kept their form intact and rode on second half goals to secure the 2-0 win against the Kairang team which managed to soak up first half charges.
After a goalless first half, Lalkhanlen ended the drought in the 52nd minute and gave ESU the headway while P Naoba fetched the second and the decisive goal late in the 76th minute.
PYA, with 1 win and a draw ended on four points in this 6 team league tournament organised by Imphal East District Football Association.
USA will play UPAA in the next match tomorrow at 12.15 pm.
SSC edge past Angtha FC
Meanwhile in a Group B league encounter of the M Ibobi Memorial 1st Division Football League Tournament, SSC, Sekta pulled off a 2-1 win against Angtha FC.
All the three goals of the match were scored within the first half as S Thoi found the opener early for SSC in the 4th minute.
Y Jamesh pulled level for Angtha FC in the 28th minute but M Ashachandra helped SSC retain the lead with an additional time goal before the break.
Despite scoring chances the two sides drew blank in the second half and eventually SSC sealed their first win after a 1-4 loss to ABA, Kshetrigao in the previous clash.
YOSC, Khurai Konsam Leikai will take on PRYA, Khundrakpam in the next match tomorrow.
