IMPHAL, May 19
The Sandang Senba Maring Village Authority has strongly condemned the alleged threat to its villagers by some Andro villagers to stop work at a farm on May 17.
The action of some Andro villagers by firing gun and chasing away the Maring villagers who were tilling for cultivation of crop right in front of security personnel was reprehensible, the Sandang Senba Maring Village Authority said while appealing the Andro Khullakpa to ensure such things are not repeated.
Some Andro villagers have been consistently harassing and hampering the cultivation work of rice crops by Sandang Semba Maring villagers during the peak time and as such the yield which will feed the villagers is very much likely to be affected greatly this season, the village authority said with concern and drew the attention of the State Government to intervene at the earliest.
There is no contention for land at the spot of the incident and no Maring villagers interrupt Andro villagers from doing their work on their respective farm lands, it continued and appealed to the State Government to ensure securities are located at the said spot to prevent any untoward incidents in the future and make sure the situation does not get worse from bad.
