One kharsa (hog deer) was rescued from a Komlakhong area and handed it over to the Forest Department and members of the Unique Wildlife Protection Committee.
The female kharsa was reportedly rescued from a hut near a swamp area of Komlakhong which is adjacent to Loktak Lake.
With the detection of the exhausted kharsa believed to be strayed from Loktak Lake, the nearby villagers contacted the Forest officials and a team of Forest Staff led by Birchandra, RO of Keibul Lamjao National Park Range 2 and members of Unique Wildlife immediately came to the rescue.
After careful examination by experts, the deer is said to be released in a safe location within Keibul Lamjao National Park.
The Unique Wildlife Protection Committee also lauded the villagers of Komlakhong for their sincerity and consciousness towards protection of wildlife.
