Kite rescued

IMPHAL, May 25 : The People for Animal Manipur rescued one kite (Umaibi) with leucistic from Khordak Mayai Leikai, today.
Leucism  is a condition that results in the partial loss of pigmentation causing white, pale, or patchy colouration of the skin, hair, feathers, scales, or cuticles, but not the eyes in birds and animals.
According to Dr Suresh, a scientist at Wildlife Institute of India, the rescued bird is a Brahminy kite, said PFA in a statement.
Saying that such a condition is rare in Brahminy kites, the PFA added that the bird is being kept at its shelter for the time being.
Brahminy kites are found in the Indian subcontinent and Australia, it added.
The bird was found by one Ningthoujam Nabachandra from Khordak Mayai Leikai, Imphal East in a feeble condition.
