IMPHAL, May 27 : The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has appealed to the State Government to see to the needs of the underprivileged section, especially tenant farmers and daily wage earner during these trying times.
In a statement, AMUCO observed that the section of people who are hit the hardest by the Covid clampdowns are those who are living hand to mouth as putting food on the table was difficult for them even during the pre-Covid days.
As such, the Government should roll out a measure to make sure the poor don't go hungry, it added.
Saying that prolonged imposition of lockdown and the ongoing curfew have a serious consequence on the lives of the poor, the statement urged all to extend a helping hand to those who are facing food shortage.
AMUCO, on the other hand, said that they have reached out to rickshaw pullers staying on rent at Kwakeithel and impoverished families at Andro, Huikap, Keirao, Wakha, Tellou Chana, Phaeyeng, Mayang Langjing, Loitang Khunou, Keingam, Maharabi and Mongjam with edibles, face masks, vitamins etc by joining hands with EKTA Parishad, Manipur.
