IMPHAL, May 5  : Short of the previous day high of 433 positive cases, but the number of positive cases continue to grow at a disturbing rate with as many as 397 individuals including 20 CAPF personnel testing positive for CoviD-19 in the last 24 hours.
If the number of positive cases saw a dip from the previous day high of 433, the fatality rate shot to a record equalling number with 10 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
The last time Manipur recorded as many as 10 deaths on a single day was back on November 29, 2020.
The ten persons who passed away due to the virus in the last 24 hours include a 78 year old man (Kangpokpi), 70 years (male Imphal East), 72 years (male Imphal West), 67 years (female Imphal East),  72 years (male, Imphal West), 60 years (female Kangpokpi),  48 years (female Churachandpur), 42 years (female Imphal West), 75 years (female Imphal East) and 56 years (male Imphal West).
The ten passed away at Shija Hospitals (2), Bal Bhavan (3), District hospital Kangpokpi (1), District hospital Churachandpur (1), RIMS (2), JNIMS (1).
According to a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, the 377 positive cases from amongst the general population were drawn from Imphal East (69), Imphal West (187), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (12), Kakching (28), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (13), Tamenglong (11), Senapati (15), Kangpokpi (17), Jiribam (2) and Chandel (2).
All necessary precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the Control Room.
The positive persons were tested at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Mother's Care, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, Remedy, Samaritan, SWISS Clinic, ACME, Little Clinic, Chamber of Commerce, Grace NH, Ema Hospital, Imphal Hospital, Shija Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bish-nupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, Senapati and Jiribam.  
On the other hand, a total of 121 persons were discharged after recovery in the last 24 hours. They are from CAPF (1), home isolation (106), RIMS (6) and SHRI (8).
The recovery rate stands at 90.73 percent.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 33,353 (general population 29,747 and Central security personnel 3606).
Nineteen air passengers were tested at the airport in the last 24 hours and one was found positive.
The COVID-19 Common Control Rooms has asked all air passengers who arrived on May 3 by Air India flight -A1-3713 and were seated on rows 12 to 18 to inform the Control Room on 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officer for further surveillance and necessary testing.
All eligible persons have also been asked to get vaccinated at RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.  In the last 24 hours, a total of 821 D type oxygen cylinders and 323 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health care facilities.
