AMSU shuts down construction work at Phundrei High School hostel

IMPHAL, May 7: All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) shut down the hostel of Phundrei High School for non maintenance of quality.
The shoddy work at staff quarter and hostel sections were discovered by a team of AMSU volunteer during an inspection visit as a part of 'Campaign for Total Education'.
Manipur is in seismic zone and there are frequent instance of earthquake. In such cases of earthquakes, how will such poor quality structure withstand the natural calamities, AMSU questioned.
AMSU said it was very unfortunate that the Head Master of the school had no idea under which scheme the new construction was taken up. The contractor, SO and other officials of the department involved in construction of the hostel at Phundrei High School should come to the office of AMSU within 5 days.
