IMPHAL, May 8
Lamlai Mapari Thougal Lup alleged that the beneficiaries of Lamlai Assembly Constituency have not received the rice quota under National Food Security Act (NFSA) for April and May.
A press release issued by the lup stated that the lup will submit written complaints to the authorities concerned namely DC of Imphal East, Police stations concerned and so on regarding the matter.
Expressing concern on the matter, the lup stated that rice under NFSA are meant mainly for poor people and the allocation for a month should reach the beneficiaries within the said month.
Stating that there is a high probability that the NFSA rice allocations for the April and May for Lamlai A/C  might have been misused by some individuals, the lup said that such acts is not called for amid the current situation of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic  which have impacted the lives of many especially the poor and the needy.
By not providing the rice on time to the beneficiaries concerned who are deprived of the main source of income and employment due the ongoing pandemic are facing problems to make the ends meet and to sustain themselves and their families.
Lamlai Mapari Thougal Lup asserted that it is high time that all those involved in such acts should be given appropriate punishment and appealed to the Government and authorities concerned to intervene and solve the matter at the earliest.
Also the lup resolved to extend full support to the curfew imposed by the State Government in view of the surge in Covid positive cases and lauded the Government for timely action to curb the further spread of the virus.
Lastly the lup urged the local clubs, meira paibis and village committees of Lamlai A/C to extend all possible support to the curfew in order to save mankind.
